Digital Magazine FAQ

Electronic versions of our favorite resources are instant and affordable. Below you will find answers to some of the most frequently asked “how to” questions regarding the interactive digital edition of The Old Schoolhouse® Magazine.

General Questions

How do I access the magazine?

Digital editions are available for download the first of each month. They are free access and may be downloaded to your computer, laptop, or mobile devices.

If you are a new SchoolhouseTeachers.com member, your account will be created during the purchasing process. After you complete your purchase online, you will receive an email with the link to your first issue and access to the members-only website. After that as long as you have a membership, you will receive an email each month with the link to the new issue and announcing the new SchoolhouseTeachers.com content.

How do SchoolhouseTeachers.com members find the digital magazine link and access back issues at SchoolhouseTeachers.com?

As a member, you will receive an email letting you know your digital edition is available. The email that you receive will contain a static web address. Click on the link, and it will open in a new window for you to read the magazine. If it does not open automatically, copy and paste the link into your browser. You may also read the magazine by visiting www.TOSMagazine.com. Instructions for logging into SchoolhouseTeachers.com will be in the same email. To access back issues of the magazine, click here and login to SchoolhouseTeachers.com. If you download the free apps at www.TOSApps.com, you will also have access to about 20 back issues on your mobile device.

I received an email telling me my digital edition of the current magazine is available. How do I access it?

That email contains a static web address link. Click on the link, and it will open in a new window for you to read. If it does not open automatically, copy and paste the link into your browser. Be sure to save this email or bookmark the link to your digital edition.

What operating system or program do I need to see the digital magazine?

No special operating system or program is required to view the digital magazine via computer. A recent version of any popular web browser will provide adequate viewing capability for The Old Schoolhouse® Magazine.

Will I be able to see the digital magazine if I have a slow dial-up connection?

Yes; all you need is a recent version of any popular web browser. Though the digital edition is best suited for high-speed Internet connections, a 28 kbps connection will work. However page loads may take a couple of minutes or so.

Why isn't my magazine displaying correctly in my browser window?

If your magazine is not displaying correctly, make sure you have the most updated version of your browser. You can find this version by going directly to the associated websites: http://www.firefox.com, http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/internet-explorer/downloads/ie, http://www.apple.com/safari, or http://www.google.com/chrome/.

If that does not work, try clearing your cache and history. Sometimes the computer does not completely load the web page, resulting in broken links and a magazine that does not display correctly.

Do I have to be online to view the magazine?

You do have the option to download the magazine onto your computer. It is a very large file, though, so you might want to test how it works on your computer. Visitwww.TOSMagazine.com. Using the “Download” option in the navigation bar at the top, choose PDF format and then save the file to your computer. Be sure to remember where you save your digital edition.

If you don’t wish to save the magazine to a file, you may also download the magazine to your Kindle Fire, Android-based smartphone, or Apple devices. Click here for more information. Once the app is downloaded, you can read the magazine on or offline.

If I am using a laptop or computer to read my magazine, and I am short on storage space, do I need to download the issue to my computer/laptop, or do I keep the link handy and click on it each time I want to go back to that issue?

We encourage you to view the magazine online if you are low on storage space, since it is a large file, although you may download the file easily from the “Download” button on the viewing page.

Whom do I contact if I don't receive the email announcing the new issue and SchoolhouseTeachers.com content does not arrive?

Always check your email spam folder. It may have been sent to the wrong box. If you still cannot find the email with your monthly issue and access to SchoolhouseTeachers.com, call customer service at 1-888-718-HOME (4663) or email customerservice@thehomeschoolmagazine.com to inquire about your subscription. If customer service is unable to solve the problem, due to the variables among browsers, computer operating systems, Internet connections, and settings, Texterity, our digital publishing company, is best suited to answer your question. Please feel free to email Texterity by going to the welcome page in your digital magazine and completing the form provided. If you cannot get to your welcome page, you can email Carol at cdennington@texterity.com for personal assistance. Texterity is happy to answer questions that pertain to accessing the issue, printing, navigation, downloading, archive access, and settings.
