Tami Fox - Director of Marketing
Tami Fox lives in the foothills of North Carolina with her husband, Jonathan, and their six children on a small hobby farm. Tami is a veteran homeschooler with more than 11 years of homeschooling experience. She has graduated their oldest child, their only daughter, and she is currently homeschooling their five sons, ages 5 to 17. Tami also operates Discount Home School Supplies, www.dhss.com, from their home. Tami has worked for The Old Schoolhouse® Magazine in different capacities over the years. Tami was the North Carolina coordinator for TOS Homeschool Nations. Tami contributed to the PR Mama Blog for TOS. She has also written an article for the Fall 2007 issue of TOS. Tami currently works for TOS as the Director of Marketing and in editorial for SchoolhouseTeachers.com. Tami is active in her local and state-wide homeschooling community. Pat Marcum - Director of New Business
Pat Marcum is a veteran homeschooling father, having begun his family’s homeschool journey with his wife and children in the early 1980s. A few years following his decision to teach his own children at home, and before curriculum was widely available to homeschooling families, Pat worked for Alpha Omega Publications as sales and marketing manager to Christian schools, AOP’s main market at that time. While serving in this position, Pat began to receive calls from parents who wished to purchase and use AOP Lifepacs and other educational products in their “homeschools”. These calls sparked a passion for home education in Pat that continues today. Pat has held management and executive positions in several companies marketing to the homeschool community over the last 25 years, including design and development of the successful, Homeschool Headquarters program, providing hundreds of Christian bookstores nationwide with homeschool products. Pat, who has been a staff writer for The Old Schoolhouse Magazine, as well as a conference speaker in the past, is currently our Advertising Sales Advisor. He comes to TOS with a determination and commitment to help construct and maintain an unmatched sales and marketing division, making TOS a “household” name to every company with educational products and services to offer our readers.
Pat Mills - Assistant to Director of Marketing
Pat along with her husband Jeff, live in the country outside of Memphis Tenn for over 25 yrs. Having homeschooled for over 15 years, one of their 3 daughters has as of now, graduated from college with honors, another is graduating from high school this May and the last one will be entering the high school years this coming fall. Pat has a degree in Business Data Processing/Accounting and worked out in the professional world for over 10 years before the Lord sent her home to raise her own children. Pat started working for TOS 6 years ago as the Manager of Homeschool Nations blogs and moved into the marketing dept 4 years ago. Pat works with support group leaders and bloggers, assists with Schoolhouse Expo, Schoolhouse Teacher’s Toolbox and with day to day tasks for the marketing director. Pat’s mission with TOS is to help all homeschool families, old and new, with encouragement, resources and the knowledge of others while traveling the path of homeschooling.
Betsy Chastain - Fulfillment & Social Marketing
Betsy, and her husband Tyson, have been blessed with the task of raising three gentlemen for the army of the Lord: They, and the two young men still at home, live on a hobby farm in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains and have been homeschooling since 1995. Christina Walker - Homeschooling with Heart Blog Manager
Christina is in her 6th year of homeschooling and currently resides in Central Florida with her husband and two children. They enjoy spending time visiting the fun attractions and beaches that surround them. Her other passions include art, and encouraging families to follow the dreams God has planted in their hearts. Lori Scheele - Marketing Assistant
Lori is still trying to figure out what a Hoosier is, although she’s been one all of her life. She lives in Fort Wayne, Indiana and is the blessed Mom of two teen boys and wife to Stephen. They have been happily married for 18 years. Lori has homeschooled her children from the very beginning of their school years, which started over 9 years ago. She has recently launched a program for local homeschool families called Teaching Treasures (teachingtreasures4u.blogspot.com) where she leads various programs and workshops highlighting homeschool opportunities and information. Homeschooling is her passion and she loves mentoring new Moms as they begin their homeschool journey. She is very excited to join the TOS staff as a Marketing Assistant where she will have a chance to help promote a business she has supported for many years. Lori loves being involved as a small group leader and participating on the Youth Group ministry team at her church. She loves spending time with her family, traveling, reading, writing, and drinking White Chocolate Frappes! Lori’s life motto is “Choose Joy, no matter what!”
Tia Linschied - Marketing Assistant
Tia and her husband Todd have four children, two of which are homeschool graduates, and her youngest has special needs which makes homeschooling a special joy. The family enjoys camping, traveling, and spending time with family. Tia’s only personal hobbies are reading and writing. She has worked for TOS off and on over the past seven years, mainly as a marketing assistant, and as the Senior Editor of HomeschoolBlogger.com. Tia’s mission in working for TOS is to be one of the team glorifying the Lord by helping to create the best homeschool magazine to support home educating families the world over. “I used to think I couldn’t homeschool, and then I thought I’d do it only for a few years. I am thankful for other homeschoolers who were willing to help, and encourage me to educate my children at home all the way through high school. They helped me to realize that school at home wasn’t the goal, but discipling my children to live for Christ in every area. That’s exactly what TOS is here for.”
Cheryl Duran - Marketing Assistant
Cheryl lives in southern California with her husband of 26 years, Gil. They have been blessed with 5 children, four graduated from homeschooling, and one more to go. Cheryl joined the TOS staff in late 2007 where she has done various online web and graphic work, as well as designing email blasts and coordinating e-newsletters; including The Homeschool Minute. She loves working with her friends at TOS, and with the online homeschooling community. You’ll find her spending most of her free time cooking and doing crafts with her youngest son, Sammy. Cheryl feels very passionate about homeschooling and likes to encourage parents to prayerfully use their God-given rights to homeschool their children. She believes that homeschooling not only blesses parents with the opportunity to teach their children, but it also gives each child a chance to learn and explore with their own individual learning needs. Cheryl says that’s a blessing and opportunity that you can’t pass up!
Heather Mader - Marketing Assistant
Heather has been married to Rich for 18 years and they have been blessed to have 2 girls and 2 boys, ages 10-17, who have never known traditional school. They reside in Sacramento where Heather has been actively involved as a leader in SCOPE, her local Christian homeschool support group, for the past 10 years. She is also a Voice Over Actress who loves bringing stories to life. Heather enjoys sharing TOS’s encouragement with others and desires to help TOS reach as many people as possible.
Marcy Crabtree - Assistant Marketing Manager
Marcy has spent nearly 15 years as an Ob nurse, sometimes juggling homeschooling with the job she calls her first ministry. Grateful that her main ministry today is at home, she has been married to Tom for 14 years, and is the proud momma to 11-year-old Ben. Her homeschool style is delight-directed (just a hair shy of unschooling), using mostly unit studies, and greatly influenced by Charlotte Mason?s love of living books. As a part of the TOS team, Marcy helps spread the word about the TOS Crew through social media outlets, as well as contributing to the Homeschool Crew blog. She enjoys sharing curriculum and product reviews and offering encouragement to homeschool families through her blog and occasional speaking engagements. Wendy Hilton - Assistant to the Publishers
Wendy lives in the South with her wonderful husband and 3 great kiddos! She is a Christian, homeschooling, work-from-home mom. She and Scott were high school sweethearts and have been married for more than 20 years. She has homeschooled for more than 15 years. Her oldest child has autism and began an intensive homeschool program at age 2. Her son is a typical teenage boy and would rather do anything than school (especially video games and tennis)! Her youngest is a social butterfly, ballerina, and people lover. Wendy has worked for The Old Schoolhouse Magazine for 3 years and is co-owner and social media director for her homeschool website, Hip Homeschool Moms (www.hiphomeschoolmoms.com). Meredith Duke - Marketing Assistant
Meredith Duke is a homeschooling, homesteading mama deep in the heart of Texas. Her two children have been homeschooled since 2004 and will soon be entering high school and middle school. Meredith has been blessed to be married to her college sweetheart, Johnny, for 18 years (and counting). Life is an adventure for Meredith and her family.
