This is the third book in the Grandmother’s Hope Chest series, and we absolutely love these books and kits! These are beautiful, hardcover books with rich illustrations (by Priscilla Ector--a VERY talented homeschooled artist!). The books have great graphics of the project that is intertwined into the story--as well as another touching story of Lucy, her grandmother, and the memories they are making together.
This story begins with Lucy losing a button from her favorite dress. Grandmother goes to her hope chest, takes out a button jar, and lets Lucy choose a replacement. As they go through the buttons, Grandmother shares stories and memories of many of these precious buttons. One even dates back to the Revolutionary War! As they talk, Lucy discovers a very interesting design on the lid of Grandmother’s button jar, and Grandmother takes time to share where the design came from. The story of this sweet design shares the gospel! This also has Grandmother sharing time and new skills with Lucy.
Lucy and Grandmother decide to create a button jar for Lucy, of her very own! The Grandmother’s Hope Chest Series is a sweet, memory-making series. We LOVE them. Hope Chest Legacy puts together the most wonderful, high quality kits to accompany the books, along with detailed instructions in the book that are simple and easy to follow.
We can’t say enough good things about these special books and kits. They are encouragers of family reading, sharing and learning sewing skills, of family life, of family time, sharing the gospel, and more! You absolutely cannot go wrong with this precious series, in this family’s opinion.
A DEFINITE recommendation!
