Line Master has come up with a great product in their Kinesthetic Number Line! This approximately 15" long by 4" wide and maybe 1" deep, hard plastic, and very colorful interactive number line makes math hands-on and visual in a new way for children! The number line has a recessed magnetic wand attached (short, durable, nylon cord that attaches it to the Number Line so it won't get lost!) that will dislodge the steel balls in the track for performing mathematical concepts. There is one ball at each end--the one on the left for addition and the one at the far right for subtraction. "Grab" a ball with the magnetic wand and move it along to each "house" on the number line (numbered colorful houses) to perform counting functions.

The Kinesthetic Number Line makes it fun to learn to recognize numbers, to count, and to understand number sequencing, number relationships, and number sentences. An instructional flyer provides ideas to maximize usage. Also available is a book of stories to accompany the number line called "First Stories from Number Street."

This is a wonderful tool for introducing the earliest math concepts to young children, special learners, or a child who needs a hands-on or visual approach to beginning numbers. I found that my 5-year-old had a little trouble dislodging the steel balls at first, but other than that it was very easy for young ones to use, maneuver, and play with. They'll just think of it as fun, but you'll know they're truly learning in a way that they'll just enjoy!
