Every few years, we read through the book of Proverbs as a family. These resources will make it a much more rewarding experience!

Dig Deep is a nine-week Bible study for 7th grade boys and older. It is designed to be used five days a week. Each week focuses on one chapter, and each day the child reads a portion of that week's chapter. The author lists artifacts from within the day's story that will help the reader remember the lesson. For example, in the lesson on Proverbs 5: 7-14, the artifact is a hedge clipper, and the author recalls her father trimming the lush hedge that separated her yard from her neighbor's yard. She then makes the argument that we must have hedges in our lives in order to create boundaries around our sexual purity. Each lesson also lists Today's Treasure, the Scripture verse at the core of the day's lesson. At the end of each lesson, students do Data Entry, which consists of questions to provoke deeper conversations with God. Each lesson then concludes with a quote from a remarkable Christian man. The book also has opportunities for Scripturistics (Scripture memory) and Prayeramids, a set of 31 prayers to pray throughout the month, covering everything from wisdom to work ethic to the wiles of women. Fridays are designated as Lab Work, or a catch-up day to review the week. Each week also has a section of Extras to enhance the study.

Wise Up for girls is a nine-week study written for 6th - 9th graders. Each day starts with a daily reading, focusing on one chapter of Proverbs. A Proverbs Passkey is given for the week, which is the verse at the core of the lesson. At the end of each day's lesson, girls are given the opportunity and the space to journal their thoughts with some specially formulated questions to get them going. Scripturistics provide Bible memory work, and a 31-day Password to Prayer calendar addresses issues of concern to girls, such as listening to parents, seeking Godly friends, and making good decisions. Quotes at the end of each lesson give girls a glimpse into another Christian's life. Friday is Weekending day, or a catch-up time to review the week. Finally, girls are also given extra activities to enhance the study, such as reading a biography of Christian missionaries or visiting a local crisis pregnancy center.

These guides are wonderfully written, thoughtful, relevant, and fresh. Spending some time in them with your young lady or young man will reap wonderful benefits, bringing you closer to your child and closer to God.
