I love drama, and our local homeschool group has been looking for sketches or one-act dramas for our kids to do. So I eagerly shot back my request to review this book thinking some of these could be used in that manner. While most of the sketches turned out to be on a deeper level than we were looking for, there were several (including a contract negotiation between the Tortoise and the Hare because the Hare is always tired of losing the race) that would be quite appropriate.

The sketches were actually written with church services in mind, and they are quite appropriate for that setting. There is even a topic index in the back to assist the pastor or drama director in coordinating the drama with the sermon topic. The sketches are from a nondenominational, broad-based Christian perspective. Props are minimal, and most sketches can be done without costumes. There are monologues (involving only one person) as well as some sketches with 8-9 people, but most seem to use 2, 3, or 4 people.

If you are looking for Christian drama for your older students and/or church services, I would definitely recommend this book. The sketches are everything promised--humorous, dramatic, contemporary, and most assuredly Christian.
