Dance With The Animals by Rock 'N Learn is a 45-minute video featuring lively music and fourteen interactive songs that encourage children (ages 3 and older) to get up and move . . . all while teaching about different kinds of animals.

"Hosted" by animated animals Katie Cat, Rex Rooster, and Freddy Fox, this fun-filled video enables children to use their imaginations, dance along with real kids onscreen, and imitate animals from the farm, forest, and zoo. They also learn fun facts about animals such as where they live, the sounds they make, and how to care for pets. There is also exciting live footage of more than 60 creatures from all over the world!

According to the back cover, the skills covered in this video include:
  • creative movement
  • motor skills
  • listening and following directions
  • knowledge about animals
Although my 3-year-old was probably the biggest fan of this DVD, I noticed my other children tuning in as well. Any resource featuring animals or music is usually a big hit at our house, and this video contained both of those elements. A winning combination!

Rock 'N Learn has a very user-friendly website, and you can even go online to download the lyrics to the songs on the DVD. The company also produces a wide-range of other videos for math, science, social studies, languages, and more. This particular selection is available only in DVD format, and it retails for $19.99.

Overall, I really liked Dance With the Animals by Rock 'N Learn, and I think it would be a nice addition to any homeschool collection--especially for families with preschoolers. We also received Money and Making Change (separate review). Based on these two DVDs, I plan to purchase more of these delightful and engaging videos for our family. I have a feeling they'll be a favorite resource for years to come!
