Kids Guitar 1 and Kids Guitar 2 are an innovative set of DVDs that teach children in a very clear way the basics of guitar playing. These DVDs don't rely on fancy special effects but do have the benefit of an instructor who explains each of the steps with close-ups of the fingering.
While my children weren't completely drawn in, being motivated more effectively by interaction with a live instructor, this set does provide a pleasant way to reinforce what they are learning.
The songs are common children's folk songs; and the instructor, Marcy Marxer, has performed in many venues and has even been nominated for Grammy Awards in the children's music category. This set could provide a good introduction to the guitar before investing in lessons, or it could simply be a way to help your child practice.
