A Parent's Guide to Gifted Children was released in March and has already been named an iParenting Media Award Winner. It is a comprehensive manual for the often-overlooked parent of gifted children. At 415 pages, the book's 15 chapters cover such topics as the characteristics of giftedness, family relationships, educational options, perfectionism, ADHD, learning disabilities, and choosing professionals.
It is not another dry textbook-like discussion but rather is packed full of practical, helpful advice for everyone from the "newbie" to the veteran parent of gifted children.
One of my few complaints is that the "Resources" section needs to be fleshed out more. Also, the one-page section on homeschooling should be greatly expanded, but I am a little biased on that subject.
Overall, I highly recommend this book to anyone who deals with gifted children. You will want this one on your library shelves to turn to time and time again.
