The Giant Encyclopedia of Math Activities for Children 3 to 6 is a resource filled with math ideas to engage your child in the fun subject of math. This book teaches ways to use math to teach other skills, such as art, blocks, dramatic play, fine motor skills, fingerplay, songs, poems and games. Also included in this resource are tips for group or circle time, general concepts, language and literacy, music and movement, outdoor play, sand and water play, science, sensory, snacks and cooking, transitions, working with families and an index for children's books and math concepts.

There are many ways that this resource can be used. The teacher can review the math skills index and randomly pick an activity as a focus, or the teacher may want to plan a unit lesson based on several different skill goals. Using the materials list and the knowledge of sensory and learning differences will also help in planning a unit study. The resource is written with children ages 3 to 6 in mind, and can be used in a variety of settings of your choosing.

This resource is a wonderful addition to our library. It provides us with an additional tool to use for obtaining math ideas and activities. While covering a wide variety of developmental skill areas, this resource applies mathematical concepts to those developmental areas as well. It is full of ideas to use, and will motivate you as a teacher and your child to get involved in many hands on math activities. For the amount of activities that you receive, the book, priced at $34.95, is well worth the expense. It could also be incorporated into any homeschool method that you choose, whether it is unschooling or a traditional method.

I would definitely recommend having this resource in your library as well. It has a wealth of information that would be extremely beneficial to your home school, no matter what method you choose to use, especially for children ages 3 to 6.
