Roll ’n Multiply is a multiplication game like tic-tac-toe. The 10 inch square plastic game board doubles as a container for the game components—44 double-sided playing chips, two extra ones in case you lose any, two decahedron dice, a plastic coated multiplication chart, and a rule sheet.

The game is designed for two players, ages eight and up. The high roller starts, but low roller gets his or her choice of playing chip color—orange or purple. Players take turns rolling the two dice, multiplying the two numbers shown, and placing the playing piece with the same number as the answer on the playing board. The first player to make a row of four chips wins.

As the game progresses, the answer may already be on the board. In this case, the player has the option of moving one of his pieces to another open square on the five by five square board or leaving his piece where it is. If the opponent’s piece is occupying the space, you can capture the piece by flipping it to your color and the opponent can either move to another space or leave it as is. A draw is possible, if after filling in all 25 spaces neither player has four in a row.

I love the packaging! The plastic case is durable, and it perfectly keeps everything together. This makes the game travel-friendly. It is also learner-friendly since players can use the enclosed multiplication chart to obtain the answers and there is no penalty for wrong answers.

I wish the game had the capability of going up to the 12s since those facts are so handy and important to know. Although Roll ’n Multiply is fun, it is not a substitute for flashcards and drill sheets in my opinion.
