There are many different approaches to home schooling. As a home schooling parent, it might seem overwhelming to try to figure out which one is best for your family. If you've ever heard of unschooling and may want to know more about what it is, this series of books is for you.
The first four levels of curriculum guides contain between 30 and 40 pages. Each guide introduces the parent to the laid back, relaxed atmosphere of unschooling and goes right into what you're supposed to do. The guide is divided into subjects of Art, Health & Safety, Language Arts, Math, Music, Phys. Ed. and Social Studies. Within each subject you are given a skills checklist, suggestions of how to incorporate teaching that subject in your day-to-day life and a resource list of helpful products. At the end of each subject there's a page divided up into different categories that you can jot down your ideas on.
The Mega Book has compiled grades Pre-K through 5 in one place for those that teach multiple grades. The format of this book is much the same as the individual guides. All the same subjects are given. The skills lists are included but are a bit abbreviated. A suggestions page follows the skills list and last for each subject is listed a resources section with a notes page.
Even though unschooling is relaxed, some parents need help figuring it all out. A lot of parents are uptight about state laws and want to make sure they're covered. Following their child's desires in terms of learning can be a daunting task especially if they've learned strict rules. At first you may think nothing will get done. If you need to learn how to unwind from all the rules and still get things done, this guide has it all! It will put your mind at ease to see just how easy it is to home school with the unschooling approach.
