Yet another fantastic find and republication of a jewel of a book! Jack's Insects is a living science book of a quality hard to find in today's world. Charlotte Mason actually used this very book in her schools for grades 4 through 6, and it still holds its charm for today's children. I was actually surprised to find it was first published in 1910, as the premise is similar to stories I have seen recently. The premise is where the similarity ends, though, as Jack's Insects shines far brighter than any other book on the topic that I am familiar with.

When young Jack receives a book for his birthday on his favorite topic of insects, it begins a discussion with his sister that sends them both on a magical journey into the insect world, living the natural history of the insects. Join them as they chat with a katydid, anger a wasp, question a butterfly, fly with fireflies, and so much more. The book is an absolute joy to read on its own, or you could combine Jack's Insects with your nature studies and sketches to have a complete natural history curriculum for the elementary grades. Don't be surprised if reading this book takes your children on their own adventure to discover and document the insect world. Thank you, Sonya and www.simplycharlottemason.com, for once more enhancing our educational options with a treasure like this! Highly recommended!
