Here is an intriguing way to improve your vocabulary! Each of these 35 flashcards features an adjective, the pronunciation, and a concise definition. An accompanying black-and-white photo from Seattle's past further illustrates the meaning of the adjective, and a short narrative demonstrates how it is used in a sentence. The photos are fascinating in and of themselves, and with the description they provide some interesting facts about the city. Some of the words included are calamitous, impetuous, virulent, latent, intrepid, and heterogeneous.

No specific information is included on how to use the cards or what age/grade they are designed for; however, they are rather intuitive. I assume the student (or anyone wanting to increase his vocabulary) would read and study the cards and then quiz himself or have someone else quiz him.

This is a great way to study vocabulary words, especially in preparation for annual testing.
