So Skip Counting is a music CD created to help children learn to skip count. In addition to the CD, the package includes a workbook and a laminated hundred number chart.

The workbook contains a hundred number chart for each skip counting song, with the relevant numbers printed in darker print. Also included in the workbook are hundred number charts for testing. On these charts, the numbers the child is learning are missing so they can be filled in. I don't really find this to be a good gauge of what the child has learned, though, because they can just fill the numbers in from context since the numbers that aren't being tested are still printed on the chart.

The So Skip Counting CD covers skip counting by ones, twos, threes, fours, fives, sixes, sevens, eights, nines, and tens. What sets So Skip Counting apart from other skip counting CDs I've heard is the music. Each skip counting song is in a different musical style, ranging from Punk (tens) to Classical (eights) to the Blues (twos) and even Rasta (fours). The tunes were catchy, but my sons and I found it difficult to understand the words. My boys who already knew how to skip count could sing along, but those still learning to skip count had problems understanding some of the words. This can be remedied by having the child follow along with the correct hundred number chart in the workbook, but since I like to use these kinds of CDs when we're driving around town, I'm not able to make sure they are following along correctly. Because the lyrics are hard to understand, I cannot recommend the purchase of So Skip Counting, even though we enjoyed the different musical styles.
