Do you have a baseball fan? Have you ever wondered what the original lyrics of the 1908 version of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" are, or do you just have a deep love for our great country's rich heritage and beloved pastimes? Take Me Out to the Ballgame is the perfect keepsake book and CD set for you and your children.

Cheer along with a father and son as they spend an exciting afternoon at the ballpark. The humorous, caricature-like illustrations and simple text in this 32-page paperback are sure to delight young children, while the notes and nostalgia pages in the back of the book will be of interest to older children and adults.

On the CD, you will hear a narrator read the text, which consists of the lyrics to the song. Song lyrics, a history of the song, and more are included at the end of the book. Last but not least, you and your child can sing along to the very song that is sung during the seventh inning stretch at most ballparks today.

Take Me Out to the Ballgame can be purchased separately as a paperback or hardback or as part of the Smithsonian Institution's entire 10-Piece American Favorites Set. The paperback is $9.95, and the hardcover is $17.95. The set, which comes with five paperback books and five compact discs, is $48.95.

Both of my boys, who are 8 and 10, liked listening to the history part of the song, while my daughter, who is 4, liked looking at the pictures and singing along to the song. I think this book is great for parents who are trying to please children of all ages. It would also make a great addition to a study of America's history in the 1900s.
