Tyrannosaurus is hungry and on the prowl for her next meal. Join her on an exciting adventure in the book It's
Tyrannosaurus Rex. You'll find out not only what she eats but also what is even more powerful than the fiercest of all prehistoric predators.
This book is intended for children with a preschool to second-grade reading level, but non-reading children can easily follow along with the included audio CD. The realistic illustrations and prehistoric forest sounds really bring the book to life, and the fact that this carnivore is looking for a meal kept my four-year-old daughter very interested!
Also included in this colorful, 36-page paperback are a four-page tear-out poster and a Tyrannosaurus fact page. Unfortunately, the fact page is not written from a Creationistic viewpoint, as the very first sentence reads, "It has been about 65 million years since Tyrannosaurus rex roamed the earth." Other than that, I think this book is great for children who love dinosaurs and adventure.
If you are doing a unit study on dinosaurs or have a die-hard dinosaur fan on your hands, be sure to check out the website for other titles in the Smithsonian Institution's Prehistoric Pals collection. Some of the sets even include a soft-plush toy.
