The promises of God's Word are so important that in Psalms we are encouraged
to hide God's Word in our heart so that we might not sin against God! In our
family, we take God's Word literally; memorizing Scripture and talking about
God's
faithfulness are part of daily life. My Everyday Promise
Bible is a book for
children ages 3 to 5. It features daily readings based on a promise of Scripture
written in a way that children can grasp. The illustrations are cute and colorful
cartoons that my toddlers enjoyed. The author and illustrator has written and
illustrated several other children's books, and this one is just as delightful.
Mr. Smouse's message to all children is to "fall in love with Jesus. He will
always be your very best friend." I like that message.
My Everyday Promise Bible is sturdy and will hold up under rough toddler use, as the cover is board-book style and the pages are heavyweight paper. There are about 400 pages in all. Though it measures 5 x 7 inches, it feels like an adult Bible; and just like a "real" Bible, it has a ribbon bookmark to hold your place. Sometimes we let our toddler carry it to church and look at it during the sermon.
The devotions are numbered Day 1 through Day 365, so you can start any day of
the year, doing one daily. Or, if you are like me, read as many as your toddler
will sit through. An index is included for parents who want to look up a particular
topic, such as joy, pride, truthfulness, etc. One of my favorites is titled "Maybe
Today." It says, "I am coming soon!" Revelation 22:7 "Jesus is coming back soon!
It may be today. It may be tomorrow. Only God knows for sure. But He is coming.
That is a promise. Are you ready to see Him? Oh, what a day that will be!"
My Everyday Promise Bible is perfect for anyone who desires to introduce God's love and faithfulness to children. It is perfectly priced for a gift or a nice addition to your everyday devotion routine.
