This is a story about an 8-year-old boy who saves his neighborhood park by writing
a letter to the mayor, pleading for him to change the city's plans for the property.
It's interesting if not too realistic and lets kids know that good things can
happen when you stand up for what you believe in.
There are beautiful illustrations in this book, and that makes it very visually appealing to children. My granddaughter was more interested in the pictures than in the story itself. The author was trying so hard to rhyme that sometimes it distracted from the story. For instance, at the end it says, "Pinger Park has everything, even a new children's bank. And everyone in Pinger Town has Conrad Zinger to thank." A children's bank? This is just a typical park with trees, fountain, sidewalks, play area etc., and the illustration shows a bank building in the middle of it. Very strange.
