At first glance I thought this book would captivate our one-year-old but certainly not our four- and five-year-old kids, who are already enjoying chapter books. Was I surprised! The entire family loves Driving My Tractor. It has simple, large text and colorful painted illustrations that are simply captivating! The style of art reminds me of Grandma Moses' beloved paintings. Even the inside front and back covers are beautiful!

The book comes with a music CD that sets the entire text to a delightful catchy tune. I find myself humming the song throughout the day for my own enjoyment! Now I can't even read the book without singing the words! It is also fun for our pre-readers to be able to listen to the CD and follow along in the book on their own.

The last few pages of the book contain drawings and descriptions of many different work trucks, trailers, tractors, and plows that are used on farms. Also included are clever drawings that teach kids about some crops farmers typically grow. The drawings show the crop above and below ground, which is really great for teaching about root vegetables (potatoes, carrots, beets, turnips, etc.). Our kids have asked to try some new vegetables as a result of enjoying this enriching book together! The last page contains the words and sheet music for the tune on the CD; our oldest daughter is learning to play it on the piano.

This book comes highly recommended for early elementary kids and younger. It will surely become a family favorite in your home too!
