This short book is one in a series of books about the lives of David and Moses.
It is intended for elementary students. It covers some difficult subjects, and
you should be prepared to talk with your children about the Biblical content.
This book retells 2 Samuel 11-19 and 1 Kings 1-2, which is the account of King
David having an affair with Bathsheba, having her husband killed, and suffering
consequences throughout his life as a result. The book reminds young readers
about the important difference between feeling sorry and being truly repentant,
and it ends by reminding readers that anyone who confesses sin and trust in Jesus
will be forgiven.
The dramatic full-color illustrations are excellent, and the title page lists the Bible references where the story can be found. I would recommend this book and others in the series to mature elementary students whose parents are willing to take time to thoroughly discuss the content with their young readers.
