This is a very fun children's cookbook with recipes that are inspired by over 20 classic books from children's literature. On each two-page spread, the left page contains an excerpt from a classic children's book and the right page contains a recipe that goes along with the story. Each page also contains a beautiful, soft, watercolor-like picture. The book contains recipes for breakfast foods, snacks, main meals, and desserts.
One of the fun things about this book is that the recipes go along with stories
that your children probably already know and love. You will find recipes for
such things as Two-tone Smoothies from The Secret Garden, Bear Honey and Nut
spread from Winnie the Pooh, Jo's Perfect Potato Casserole from Little
Women, Neverland Baked Bananas from Peter Pan, and The Queen of Hearts Jam Tarts from Alice
in Wonderland, along with many others. Each recipe is simply done so that an older child can do it with a little help.
The book is recommended for ages 8 and up, though younger ones will enjoy helping to make and eat the foods too. After all, what could be more fun than eating Bear Honey and Nut Spread on toast while listening to mom or dad read Winnie the Pooh to you?
I recommend this book. It is a fun way to draw your children into the story and also a great way to spend time together in the kitchen.
