For those who are not familiar with e-books, you purchase the
item and then download it onto your computer. You can view in on
your computer or print it out. This e-book by Molly Green is Molly
Makes $7 Slow Cooker Suppers.
With over 140 recipes, it has sections for Stews and Soups, Beef, Poultry
and Fish, Pork, Meatless, Sandwiches, Breakfasts, and Desserts as well as
a Bonus Section. There is a handy index at the end too. These are recipes
that people submitted and that were taste tested by a different group of
people. Each recipe has a color photo of the meal and a breakdown of the
cost of the meal. Sometimes there is a comment from someone who made the
dish.
I knew that the slow cooker recipes would save me time in the
kitchen. I hoped that some would be great tasting too. One thing
that I was not expecting was that Molly Makes $7 Slow Cooker
Suppers would be a home economics guide for my first grader.
When I was wondering what to have for dinner, I had my daughter
use the arrow key and find a picture of a meal that looked good
to her. Then she had to write down the ingredients for our trip
to the supermarket. She loved this activity. Now she could make
dinner just like her big sister. It was wonderful knowing that
any recipe my daughter chose I could afford to make, since everything
was under $7 a meal.
We did find an occasional meal for which the meat prices in California
were higher than those in the e-book. It was a reminder to us of
how food prices differ in different regions of the United States.
All in all, Molly Makes $7 Slow Cooker Suppers is an
e-book that fits mom's budget, dad's taste buds, and the younger
children's desire to cook just like mom in the kitchen.
