Are you short on time, or do you have no idea where to begin teaching
your baby, toddler, or preschooler? Jade's Toy Box is a company
that specializes in educational "concept boxes" that contain eco-friendly
toys, books, games, and other products that revolve around a specific
theme and teach a certain concept. The majority of the toys are
made with organic, sustainable, or recycled materials. This idea
was created by Angelique LeDoux after the Chinese toy lead scare.
She wanted to create quality toys and educate parents about safety
at the same time.
I reviewed a Mini Concept Box, but they are available in a larger
size as well. The theme of this box was food, and it contained
a soft cloth chef puppet, an eggplant lacing card, a wooden sliceable
carrot, a mini The Very Hungry Caterpillar book, and
Mary's Softdough (Bubble Gum Scented). All of these toys are wonderful
for the imagination. My daughter just loved this. It came in a
very nice box and was packed to look like a gift, which is exactly
what these would be great for. It even included some lollipops.
She couldn't wait to dig in and see all the treasures hidden inside.
With things to see, smell, touch, and play with, this kit was very
multisensory and kept her interested for quite a while. This was
much better than an electronic device.
These boxes are great for busy parents. They are easy to pick
up if you need instant activities to do with your child
or something he can do independently. There are even Parent Guides
available on their site to download. Many of the materials included
are great for travel as well and would definitely keep a toddler
or preschooler busy in the car. While I thought the price of these
boxes to be a little high at first, I then realized you are paying
for high-quality materials and the convenience of someone else
handpicking specific products that teach a concept. They are well
worth the price when you are short on time, want safe products
that are going to last for a long time, and want to keep your child's
interest while teaching him important skills at the same time.
