Raising our children to be spiritual is a tough job. In fact,
it's not something we can do on our own. Michelle Anthony has written Spiritual
Parenting to show parents they must obey and depend on God
to accomplish this. Trying to make our children behave and act
like we want them to is usually not successful. However, creating
the right environment that models spirituality and allows God to
step in and change our child's heart can do just that.
Michelle discusses the different areas in our lives where we must
be willing to let God do His work. She uses real-life situations
to show different examples which many parents can relate to. Just
exposing children to Christ and the Bible and taking them to church
will not create a spiritual child. We as parents must examine ourselves
and allow God to make the necessary changes to be spiritual ourselves.
If we are not living a spiritual life, how can we expect our children
to desire that for themselves?
This book is written in a conversational style. You will almost
feel like you are sitting down with a good friend. But at the same
time, you will be discovering the tools necessary to change and
shape your child's heart. You will have a much better understanding
of exactly what your role should be and how to create an environment
that nurtures your child's soul. Leading by example and letting
them see God work in your life is the best teaching method available.
The rest will fall into place on its own.
