Monki See, Monki Do: All About Colors DVD is an educational
program for children as young as 3 months from the MonkiSee Baby
DVD video series. The series features two brother monkey puppets, Howie
and Skip. In this DVD, Howie teaches his younger brother,
Skip, how to read color words. Using a variety of media, including
puppets, live children, props, and outdoor action scenes, the DVD
helps children learn colors and how to read color words. The
extensive color list goes beyond the basics of red, blue, yellow
to include colors such as indigo, magenta, and silver. With
a running time of 30 minutes, this DVD also includes a slide show
feature to review the words learned as well as a parent guide. The
color words are shown on the screen so that the child hears the
word, sees the word, and also sees items associated with that color
at the same time to maximize understanding.
The lively music is very catchy. Children's voices are cheerful
yet soothing. The DVD has plenty of activity to hold children's
interest but at the same time has a somewhat calming feel. My
20-month-old daughter loved to watch the children on the movie. My
four-year-old also enjoyed learning new color words. I
appreciate having quality DVD's like this to put on for my younger
children when I need to be able to focus my attention on my older
children and their schoolwork. Monki See,
Monki Do: All About Colors is a nice blend of entertainment and education for the baby,
toddler, and preschool crowd.
