I thoroughly enjoyed watching the two videos in the "Legacy" box
by Dr. Voddie Baucham, Jr. As I mentioned them to other homeschooling
moms, it became apparent that I was the last one in the group to
hear of Dr. Baucham! The second video, Getting Your House in
Order, is one that you will enjoy. The first video, Multi-Generational
Promise, is one that adults from broken homes and sinful
pasts will find particularly healing.
Dr. Baucham is a pastor and author. More importantly to me, he
is a husband and a dad to seven home educated children. Dr. and
Mrs. Baucham adopted a few of their children. You hear his heart
for adoption throughout the messages.
Dr. Baucham asks the question: What legacy will you leave your
children? He pauses at just the right spots so that you can take
it all in. He speaks from his heart and does not read from his
notes, so it is easy to feel part of the audience. As you watch,
it would be good to have a remote control at your side. You will
need to pause, think, start again, and then pause again to grab
your Bible. Dr. Baucham unpacks Scripture, using and explaining
Hebrew along the way.
Can I completely explain multigenerational discipleship and faith?
Not yet. It's not because Dr. Baucham doesn't do an excellent job
explaining his message but rather because the concepts are not
preached every day and are new to me. However, after watching the
videos twice, I know how important these concepts are. It makes
me want to spend as much of the day as possible in family worship
time and discipleship.
Christians who wanted to be challenged to think about their faith
will enjoy this DVD. Dr. Baucham challenged me in many areas, especially
in the way I daily exercise my faith. He challenged me to truly
study my Bible. He challenged me to think about each thing that
we do as a family or individuals besides discipleship. Grab this
DVD and enjoy the challenge! You can find more of Dr. Baucham's
writings at his blog: www.voddiebaucham.org.
