Penny Stones are an ingenious new way to keep the conversation
flowing at social gatherings. Each set is a little net bag of glass
stones with questions on them (and 1 penny). These sets are made
by people with disabilities. Each set is meant for different types
of gatherings. The Slumber Party edition is geared for teenagers,
although I believe that all the sets would work with just about
any age.
We used the stones several times but notably for Thanksgiving
and another special holiday dinner we hosted. Everyone at the table
was able to participate, and it was enjoyable to all. Even the
youngest at the table (age 5) had plenty to contribute to the conversation
thanks to these clever conversation starters. One of the questions
was, "What is your favorite holiday tradition." Not only did we
learn a little bit about our guests, but we got some great ideas
for starting our own new traditions.
These penny stones will be a family favorite at holiday dinners
in the future, and I'm sure they will get extensive use by our
Christian kids clubs. These sets sell on the website for $15 each
(plus shipping and handling), which I think is a great price for
this excellent resource that homeschool families will want to use
over and over.
