T. L. Higley is my new favorite author! I'm adding this book to
my great historical Christian fiction collection with my other
favorite authors. Francine Rivers is the one that came to mind
as I read this book.
This is the story of Julian, a Roman Christian who goes to Petra
to escape a bad situation in Rome and connects with the Petra contingent
of The Way (1st Century Church). Cassia also comes to Petra leaving
a bad situation in Damascus and hoping to find a future for her
small son. Instead, she finds danger, but she also becomes involved
with The Way. Julian finds the place God has for him, and Cassia
find salvation and a place to belong.
The wonderful descriptions of the landscape in and around Petra
make me long to see it for myself. Petra has a place in Bible prophecy,
which makes me even more curious to see how it looks today.
Ms. Higley has done her research and given us a marvelous peek
into that ancient world. I recommend this book to anyone who loves
good Christian historical fiction. My 12-year-old granddaughter
is reading it with a book report on the agenda. She was very eager
for me to finish reading it so she could take it.
