Timeless Stories is a wonderful and unique collection
of narratives gathered from the lives of upstanding Christian men
and women who lived and ministered over the last three centuries.
Included in these heroes of the faith are John Wesley, George Whitefield,
George Muller, William and Catherine Booth, Hudson Taylor, Charles
Spurgeon, Dwight Moody, Amy Carmichael, Corrie ten Boom, and Billy
and Ruth Graham.
This book does not have the typical short-story approach. Rather,
the book is organized into chapters that are based on a different
characteristic of the Christian walk: Family, Service, Faith, Prayer,
Witness, Forgiveness, Stewardship, and Adversity. Within each chapter,
beautiful examples are given of the aforementioned men and women
that demonstrate outstanding and inspiring testimonies of Gods
handiwork in their lives.
Timeless Stories is a wonderful book for all ages. For
younger children it would make an excellent read-aloud, and for
older students it could be a wonderful supplement to a history,
language arts, or Biblical studies class. We used this book in
our morning Bible times as part of a character study. Even my youngest
child enjoyed the stories and the discussion that ensued as we
were able to take a glimpse into the lives of such incredible men
and women of the Christian faith.
This book would make an excellent addition to the homeschooler's
(and non-homeschooler's) bookshelf. Timeless Stories not
only inspires and encourages, it gives instruction for living out
our faith daily.
