Andi's Scary School Days is a lovely paperback chapter book in the Circle C Beginnings series. It has about 74 pages and is set roughly in the 1870s. It is about a little girl who is starting to school and is terrified by the prospect. This book is for ages 6-8 and is Christian Fiction. Andi is fearful of going to the school in town and of the teacher. The first day doesn't go so well, but Andi perseveres and finds out it's all going to be all right. The book is accompanied by worksheet pages that go along with the book, including several coloring pages about the action in the book. One of the pages contains information about horses, and some of the pages demonstrate what children's schoolbooks were like in that era. More activity pages are available for download at http://www.andiandtaffy.com/.

Andi's Fair Surprise tells of a summer trip to the State Fair. Andi and her family travel by train to the fair. Andi wins a lamb at the fair, but her older brother, who runs their ranch, does not want a sheep on the ranch. Andi gives the lamb to a friend, and her brother rewards her by winning her a new hat she has had her eye on. The activity pages with this book include information about trains and the State Fair, among other things.

These are wonderful books, and the stories are so much fun. The fact that there are coloring and activity pages to go along with them is just the icing on the cake. They would be a great resource for your homeschool. There are four books available now in the Circle C Beginnings series, and two more are coming in August 2011--something to look forward to!
