| As much as I enjoy listening to Adventures in Odyssey, I love
seeing my children reading good books. Now we can enjoy both at
the same time with the publication of this wonderful new series
of books from Focus on the Family and Tyndale. These historically
accurate, Christian-based tales are designed for early elementary
readers to tackle on their own, or they make wonderful read-alouds
for the entire family to enjoy together. The other titles in this
series are Attack at the Arena, which discuss ancient
Rome, and Peril in the Palace, covering details regarding
Ancient China.
In Voyage with the Vikings, Mr. Whittaker sends cousins
Patrick and Beth to Greenland in 1000 AD, where they meet Eric
the Red and his son Leif. After a series of adventures and mishaps,
Patrick and Beth manage to make it back to their Imagination Station
aboard Leif's ship and return safely to Mr. Whittaker's workshop.
For more information about Vikings and Greenland's animals, students
are invited to visit www.TheImaginationStation.com .
This is a great book to use as an introduction to Erik the Red
and Leif Eriksson as part of your history studies. The adventures
and information will spark a curiosity that will only be satiated
by more reading and research! Highly recommended!
