George Inman's writing is beautiful and poetic as he weaves a
fantastic tale about Katie the kite. She is boastful and proud,
and she longs to be free of her string. One day her string snaps,
and she finds herself spending several seasons of the year stuck
in some far-off tree branches. With so much time to think, she
begins to appreciate her friends and family. Finally a boy rescues
Katie, patches her up, and sends her flying high once again, but
now she has a changed heart toward herself and others.
This book is written in an attempt to bring to life the concept
that we gain our value only from God's love and redeeming grace
in Jesus Christ, not through our own attempts at creating self-worth.
The black-line illustrations are perfect for young children who
would like to color the pictures and bring Katie to life as they
imagine her. The following link enables you to preview a PDF of
the entire book: http://www.bumpypumpkin.com/images/EveryKiteWebVersion2_small_file.pdf .
The book sells for $9, but it can also be purchased laminated so
that a child can color it time and time again using dry erase markers.
I highly recommend this endearing allegorical tale of God's love
and how He changes our hearts.
