Seasoned homeschoolers know that one of the best teaching tools around is board games. Whether to introduce a new skill or to reinforce skills that have already been taught, board games can be just the thing to cement a concept in the mind of a student.

Roll 'n Multiply: The Game of Multiplication, Strategy and Fun! is a board game that fits the bill nicely. A student barely familiar with multiplication tables and memorization will find that learning them by way of a fast and fun game like Roll 'n Multiply: The Game of Multiplication, Strategy and Fun! is easy and practically painless. For struggling math students like my 5th grader, the repetition and reinforcement of the times tables in a game format provide a welcome reprieve from the tedium of worksheets and traditional drill methods.

Roll 'n Multiply: The Game of Multiplication, Strategy and Fun! is simple, making it a game that can be played by a wide range of ages and skills. Players roll the two dice and then attempt to multiply the numbers aloud. If a player doesn't know the answer, a multiplication table (included) can be used without penalty. If the player solves the problem correctly, he then places a token with the correct answer onto the board. Once a player has a sequence of four pieces on the board, the game is over. But there is a catch! As in checkers, players may flip the pieces of their opponents, thereby making the pieces their own. Plays can also be blocked, meaning strategy is also an important part of the game.

If your student is stuck on those seemingly endless multiplication tables, you might find Roll 'n Multiply: The Game of Multiplication, Strategy and Fun! to be just the thing to render them unstuck. I don't know of a homeschooling parent in the world who wouldn't welcome a breakthrough in learning, particularly if it comes about in such a pleasurable manner!
