This book has it all! Just gather the children and some colored
pens or pencils for a rich, meaningful, engaging Bible study. The
big message of this book is that God is in control of everything. God
Has Big Plans for You, Esther is just one of the inductive
Bible studies written for children ages 9 to 12.
This inductive Bible written in narrative form follows three young
people--Max, Molly, and Sam--as they encounter great adventure
in Washington, D.C. As they explore the capitol they uncover the
story of Esther. Using this study, your children will learn to
read a Scripture passage for its content and context. They learn
to look for keywords. Sometimes there is a crossword puzzle for
fun. They learn to look for the "who, what, when and where" questions.
There are sketches throughout the book to hold the children's attention.
The book is meant to be a five-week study book. It is divided
into days instead of chapters. Some days seem to have more to do
in them than others. For our family, we tried to do an entire suggested
day in one sitting, but sometimes we were unable to. The 11 and
10-year olds could have done this study on their own. The Bible
portions that they read were in the back of the book. One of my
children loved this feature because it meant that all he needed
to bring to study was his box of pens. My daughter liked to have
her Bible side-by-side with the book so that she could reference
both at the same time.
This study uses the New American Standard Bible translation. For
our family that was fine, but some families prefer different versions
of the Bible. This is our third study in this series. The second
grader gobbles up the studies as eagerly as the older ones, but
she needs more time to investigate and write down the information.
My children love this study. They would do more than one day's
worth of reading if I didn't have other subjects for them to complete.
Among our children, we have everything from super Bible student
to just barely touching the surface--this study worked for all
of them.
I highly recommend God Has Big Plans for You, Esther.
