Quaver's Marvelous World of Music is a complete music
curriculum in a box. The box includes 30 music lessons on 15 DVDs
and 15 teacher guides. The 30 lessons are arranged into four separate
units: "Music Theory," "Instruments & Ensembles," "Composers & Music
History," and "Music Styles."
The teacher guides are complete and are organized into nine sections
that enable you to walk your students through the video lessons.
The sections include an overview, introduction, dvd discussion
points, class activities, web activities, homework, assessments,
cross-curriculum activities, and a digging deeper section--as well
as reproducible worksheets for each lesson. The box is complete;
no other supplies are needed.
To use this product, simply choose a lesson, load the dvd , and
watch the video. Decide which parts of the teacher's guide you
want to use, if any. The videos are lively, high energy, fun to
watch, and engaging for kids of different grade levels. Younger
kids will enjoy the videos as an introduction to music, and older
kids can dig deeper with all of the worksheets in the teacher guides.
This product is well suited for homeschool use since it is a complete
music curriculum and is easy to use.
Access to the Quaver's Marvelous World of Music website comes
with the product. The website includes games and activities related
to the videos as well as an area where kids can write their own
music and learn more about music.
Pros: Our family really enjoyed the videos and the website. The
videos were engaging to all of my kids. I liked that the box is
an entire comprehensive curriculum and that nothing else needs
to be purchased. It is a very high quality product; the guides
are printed in full color on heavy card stock type paper. The dvd
s are all quality productions, and we never had any type of issue
playing them in our dvd player or on our laptops.
Cons: The complete set is fairly expensive. Each part is available
for purchase individually, but the price is high. The expense may
keep Quaver's Marvelous World of Music out of the typical
homeschool.
Price aside, I do like the product and would absolutely recommend
it. I have not seen another complete music curriculum on the market,
and I am very excited that my family gets to use this wonderful
music program.
