These two books are part of a children's series about horses.
Each paperback book is approximately 150 pages long. This series
is for ages 8-12.
Horse Dreams, the first book of the series, introduces
us to Ellie and her family and friends. Ellie has always dreamed
of having a beautiful black horse, but when a scruffy Pinto comes
into her life, she finds that her dreams have been altered and
that God has answered her prayer in a different way than she had
planned.
Cowboy Colt, the second book of the series, examines
the friendship between Ellie and her best friend and next-door
neighbor, Colt. Colt is acting strange, and Ellie is hurt by this.
She finally discovers that Colt is struggling with his own hurt
from a family situation. In this book Colt gets the horse he's
always wanted--a buckskin.
Each of these books has a bonus section about sign language (Ellie's
younger brother is deaf) and a glossary of horse-related terms.
My granddaughter, who falls in the correct age range, liked these
books. But I, myself, LOVED these books and enjoyed reading them
each in one sitting. If you have a horse lover in your house, I
recommend this series for him or her!
