The Christmas Pups, by Teresa Bateman, is the story of three abandoned
puppies who have vowed to stay together, but when an animal control officer
picks them up and takes them to the shelter, everything changes. There they
meet a wise older dog who convinces them that staying together may not be the
best way, and together they devise a plan. In order to be adopted into a forever
home, two of the puppies decide to act badly for the sake of the pleasant third
in hopes that she will be chosen by a family for Christmas. Despite their best
efforts, their plan turns out much differently than any of them expected.
The Christmas Pups is appropriate for ages 4-8, but it may be enjoyed
by young and old alike. This very sweet storybook is one that you will want
to have on your own bookshelf--not only at Christmastime but throughout the
year. It contains gorgeous, full-color illustrations and is a nice 8x11 inches
in size--just perfect for sharing with your family. The story reminds its
readers that while plans may not always work out as expected, they sometimes
work out even better than one could have hoped they would. My children absolutely
loved this delightful book, and I highly recommend it for your own collection.
