Flicka, Ricka, Dicka and Their New Skates is a fun and
exciting Christmas story, which was first written over thirty years
ago and recently brought back in an updated edition. Set in Sweden,
the story begins with the three girls waking up on Christmas morning.
They are, like most children, excited to open the gifts they know
are under the tree. After opening their presents, they quickly
find themselves on a grand adventure that includes a horse-drawn
sleigh ride, ice-skating on a frozen pond, and rescuing a new friend.
As you flip through the book, each turn of the page greets you
with a colorful, classic illustration that clearly depicts the
story the author is telling. In this new updated edition, the book
comes with three paper dolls and a few accessories for each doll
tucked nicely in a pocket in the back of the book.
Although this book is geared toward 5 to 8 year olds and grades
kindergarten through third, my 3-year-old preschooler greatly enjoyed
it. Even my 16-month-old son enjoyed looking at the colorful pictures.
It was a fun book with 32 easy-to-read pages. My daughters, ages
six and three, were excited about playing with the paper dolls
when I showed them the dolls at the end of the story.
This is a cute story to add to your Christmas library, or something
fun to read the whole year round.
