Frog and Friends, by Eve Bunting, is a delightful story that explores
a frog's world, and all the things he enjoys doing there with his animal friends.
It reminds me a bit of the classic Frog and Toad series, by Arnold
Lobel. In this trio of stories, Frog is alarmed when he finds a strange object
in his pond, he tries to re-gift a scratchy scarf, and finally, he makes friends
with a hippo that has run away from a zoo. This series includes information
about how the reading levels fit into several popular systems. For example,
this book is at a reading level for Grades 1-2, at a guided reading level for
K, at RR level 18, etc. The smaller format is perfect for little hands
to grasp comfortably, while reading independently. For beginning reader
