These paperback books, written by author Michael
Ben Zehabe, are a wonderful resource for parents and children who
are trying to learn Hebrew. As the author points out, Hebrew is
a very meaningful language that, like all things related to God,
is intricate and full of hidden meanings and lessons. In The Meaning
of Hebrew Letters, he explains the numerical value, and the true
meaning of each Hebrew letter. Like the scriptures, each Hebrew
letter has a depth of meaning to be revealed to us. The Bet-Time
Stories are short stories that convey some meanings of the Hebrew
letters and words, each with a little twist, somewhat like the
familiar Aesop's Fables. The Commentary on Jonah gives an in-depth
study of that book of the Bible, and also pulls some of the Hebrew
words and meanings into the study. This helps with your language
study, but also gives new insight into this book of the Bible.
I think this is a wonderful way to enhance your study of Hebrew.
As the author says, instead of memorizing and testing, just absorb
it, enjoy it, and soak in the learning. We are certainly enjoying
these books, and they have given a new dimension to our study of
Hebrew. These are part of a comprehensive Hebrew curriculum, which
is called the Jonah Project. There is more information about this
on the author's website. I highly recommend that homeschoolers
and Bible scholars try these books. I think all will be delighted!
