This is a must read for all those who's hearts were calmed when settled into Mr. Rogers neighborhood.
As a little girl, I loved watching Mr. Rogers. As a mom, visiting the neighborhood with my children was a joyful learning experience. So it is no surprise that I found this book so welcoming.
With The Simple Faith of Mister Rogers, I, again, find myself in Mr. Rogers's neighborhood, but this time as an adult and seeing Mr. Rogers as a special friend in Christ.
Ms. Hollingsworth really captured the essence of what I found to be so appealing about Mr. Rogers. Reading her personal evolving relationship and being privy to some of his thoughts through her letters, allowed me to have a glimpse of what his true personality was like, which was not any different from his TV personality. His conversation and disposition that kept us all glued to the television is shared with us in the form of spiritual toast sticks, which are laid out before us over 167 pages, heavily sprinkled with scripture and the verses of beloved authors. Each treat, warm and filled with goodness.
Not only are these toast sticks for the heart, eyes and hands shared with us, but we are also rewarded with personal stories from Ms. Hollingsworth's life that help to give us a deeper understanding of the application of these spiritual toast sticks.
This is a book that will be read from cover to cover, and then, like a good fruit bowl, you will find yourself often going back for a little bit more.
