This is so much better than the way I learned about George Washington when I was in school! The Life of George Washington is a great resource for your elementary-aged student that covers the powerful life of the Father of our Country. It would be great for either independent reading or as a read-aloud for the family. It is not historical fiction, but its engaging writing style will almost fool you. Not at all like the textbooks of my day, this book has a decidedly Christian viewpoint. It focuses on the real reasons for Washington's success, but also acknowledges his mistakes due to some lack of training in Biblical doctrine. A very thorough book, it covers all the historic events you would expect like battles and politics. However, it is not done in the boring, memorize-the-facts fashion that is so common. As with all the materials I have seen from Christian Liberty Press, The Life Of George Washington is interesting, inspiring, and very well done.
