Imagine waking up at 3:30 a.m. from a dream about the United States military, so profound, that it sent chills up your body. The vivid imagery, sounds, and content still fresh in your mind, you immediately heed the call to pray. As you begin to pray you sense other's being called to prayer. You know this is not an ordinary dream, but one that is a warning and urgent wake-up call to pray God's word, and more particularly Psalm 91 over our troops and families.
This is what happened to Jill P. Boyce one night. In her 102 page book, titled Not Afraid, she shares her journey and mission that came from the dream. Her mission: to ?get bandanas imprinted with Psalms 91, and get them to as many soldiers as [she] could.? Your family will be inspired as they read each personal testimony of soldiers that found hope, protection, and salvation through God's word printed on a camouflage bandana. One soldier recounted how he had the Psalm 91 bandana in his helmet when he was shot in the head, and lived to tell about it. These are stories you are not going to hear on the news, in the paper ,or on television. They are accounts of hope, and God's protection during war.
As a family, we ended up reading this story aloud during our devotional time. My husband, and daughter (age 9) were fascinated by the different testimonies and stories of soldiers saved from death and near destruction. It gave us a new zeal to pray for our troops and do our part in helping spread the word about these bandanas.
Although this book is inspiring, it is about a ministry. You will find information about Jill P. Boyce's mission, ministry and non-profit organization sprinkled throughout. At the end you may feel compelled to give in some way,to help this ministry. In the back of the book there is information on ordering Psalm 91 bandanas for your church, non-profit organization, group, or family members to give to military personnel. The website at www.dreamci.com contains information about this ministry and additional products offered.
If you have loved ones that are currently stationed overseas in the military, you will find this book comforting, and the ministry to our troops long overdue. Psalm 91-- a simple prayer, on a simple square of cloth; a mighty sword of the Spirit.
