This book is a wonderful combination of the alphabet and Scripture in a scrapbook format.
Each letter of the alphabet gives an attribute of God with a coordinating Scripture and a place for the child or parent to write a thought or idea. For example, the letter "F" says: "I praise you because You are my Friend (companion, helper)". On the opposite page, there is a place for the child to glue pictures of friends inside the book. To the right of the pictures, there is a line to write your friends' names with the instruction to think of some ways you could spend more time with each friend. The page ends with the Scripture, "I no longer call you servants, because a master doesn't confide in his servants. Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me." John 15:15 (NLT)
Each page is truly beautiful with photos, colorful borders, and scripture. Each alphabet letter is shown in the upper and lower case form with the dotted lines for young writers to recognize the letter in its proper format. The opening page titled: "All about Me" gives the child a place to personalize the book with his/her name, a photo, and a place to trace their hand. This page also explains "What is praise?"
The final two pages have "prayer starters" for young children who might need some help with praying. I think the book is appropriate for a child between the ages of 5-10. If you wanted to use it with a younger child, you would need to be doing the reading and writing to finish the book. Although it would make a wonderful gift to a grandparent, I think that it would be best kept within a family. Since this book can be personalized, it would make a great memento project for homeschooling families. What a joy it would be to "discover" your child's thoughts and ideas about the Lord when they are older! I have always wanted to create a scrapbook, but I know I don't have the time or the creativity to do a fabulous job. This book, for me, gives me the template to do a "scrapbook" focusing my child on God, His attributes, and my son's ideas about the Lord-a wonderful combination.
