Do you know who your children's heroes are? Of course you assume that Mom or Dad is on the list, but who else? Do your kids know just what makes a person a hero? Or that they are heroes too?
The Hero Book is a sturdy spiral-bound book that kids will love. While not written specifically for homeschoolers, it is perfect for a parent to use one-on-one with a child. Best described as a fun activity book, The Hero Book combines the features of a workbook, scrapbook, and diary. The cool pictures and engaging questions make kids really think about what is important. Heroic qualities such as courage, fairness, honesty, caring, charity, creativity, confidence, and talent are thoroughly explored. The only way I could imagine improving this book would be to add a specific Christian emphasis. However, no one would disagree with the values that are encouraged or the way they are presented.
I love the step-by-step format of the book. It is so clearly explained that an 8-year-old could complete the activities himself, but I suggest doing it along with kids ages 6 to 12. You will treasure the experience. It's a perfect way to discuss important issues, or at the very least to show your child how to decide which people should influence him most. You may want to get one for each of your children, as The Hero Book will very likely become a treasured keepsake. Highly recommended!
