Grandpa Jake's Storybook - Dino Tales is a set of six individual storybooks, each teaching a different lesson. Each story begins with Grandpa Jake's grandson, Tristan, involved in a conflict, problem, or experiencing a negative attitude. To facilitate indirect problem-solving, Grandpa Jake tells Tristan stories about a group of dinosaur friends experiencing a similar problem. As each story ends, Tristan recognizes the similarities in his own situation and makes things right. The back page of each booklet lists a simple moral. For example: "When you have good manners, it makes others happy, because it shows them love and respect.
The stories are cute and would be enjoyed by young children, perhaps 3 to 7. Each story is approximately 15 pages, with writing on half of those pages. My one concern with this product is the quality. Each booklet is 4.25 X 5.5 and is printed on thin paper. The cover is the same thickness as the other pages and I don't think they would stand up to a great deal of handling. In my opinion, these books would either need to be brought out only for readings or they would need to be considered "disposable." The books do come in a clear plastic sleeve that you could use for storage. Personally, for $9.95 I would prefer one book, with different chapters, that would be sturdier.
If you are looking for a cute and friendly way to reinforce positive character qualities in your children and are willing to take a bit of extra care with the booklets, these are a good choice.
