I advise any homeschool mom, who is frustrated, stressed out, burned out or disorganized to read this review. I had the opportunity to take three coaching sessions with Victory Coaching. I am a person who never saw me participating in anything like this. After working with Charmaine, I am amazed at the things she has helped me to change in my life. The first session (which is absolutely free with no strings attached) I was very nervous and was expecting to be told you need to do this and that. Boy was I wrong; the session was nothing at all like I thought it would be. Charmaine is a wife and a mother of two children who are homeschool graduates, so she knows what homeschool moms face in our homeschool journey with our children. She is also a Christian. For me that was very important because she was aware of the struggles a Christian women faces in her walk with the Lord. By the end of my first session I was relaxed and had changed my view of coaching. Charmaine was listening to me, she wasn't judging me because she was listening and she understood.
In this session we talked about how uncooperative my children had become since the move we had recently made. Charmaine made me realize that since our move our old schedule was no longer working for us. She asked me questions about the things that were going on and was interested in learning about the problem. I liked how she let me lead the conversation; we did not discuss anything I was not comfortable with. By the end of the session I had set a goal to work on a new schedule on Saturday. I wrote this goal down to help me take responsibility to do it as well as agreed to email Charmaine a copy of the completed schedule when I finished. I did the schedule. I made one for our daily routine as well as one for our weekly school work. Life has been a lot smoother here for all of us since. I printed a copy of each and put them up on the hallway wall so everyone knows what is going on when.
Now with the children back on track and everything running smoothly in that area session two focused on me. I was so burned out. I had no energy, and I was miserable. Charmaine started talking about how things were going and asking questions which made me realize I had not been doing what I needed to be doing for myself. About two years ago I found out that I am diabetic. If you know anything about this illness you know then that you have got to take care of yourself. Since I found out that I had it my eating habits have changed completely but during all the turmoil of my life I had not been doing my exercise on regular basis. So I set a goal to exercise two to three times a week, well to get this down I had to keep rotating days. But I did get it back into my schedule three days a week. I feel a whole lot better.
Through all of our sessions Charmaine did not counsel me, talking with her was like talking with a really close friend. She never judged me; she listened to me while I told her about things going on in my life. With the questions she asked and by talking about it I learned what I needed to change to help things run smoothly in our house. Charmaine is a wonderful lady who lives her life for God which is why she does such a great job at coaching burned out homeschool moms. I do not think my life would be going as smoothly as it is if I had not made that first call to Charmaine. You can learn more about Victory Coaching at the website listed above.
