I applaud Jim and Cindy McDermott for their refreshingly honest, bold, and loving book "The Christian Family." This book is written in essay style and is almost 350 pages in length. You will find inspiration, encouragement, and support! Some of the topics covered include: Marriage, Children, Parenting, Home Keeping, Child Discipline, Courtship, and Counter Culture to name a few.
I love the honesty in the essays, and the insight and wisdom the McDermotts share. This book will make you laugh, make you cry and make you THINK. It covers many controversial issues (chores, spanking, television, family togetherness, family planning, modesty, marriageable age, the 'weak willed' parent) and points to God's Word for answers. There are many essays (over 75) and is an easy read. You will want to read it cover to cover!
Jim's "I Have a Dream, Too" is outstanding! Cindy's "Just Leave me Alone" essay is one of many favorites! In a time when God's Word is watered down and often ignored in this world we live in, the McDermotts use (unapologetically) God's Word as their guide. They share their journey with us, to encourage, support and lift us up. This is a MUST read for the Christian Family, my very highest recommendation!
