Pearables is a Christian home-training family ministry dedicated to bringing Biblical truth to children in a clear and simple manner to help them live lives that glorify God. Our family had the privilege of reviewing three publications from Pearables, What the Bible Says About Being A Girl, The Narrow Way Character Curriculum, and Personal Help for Girls. What the Bible Says About Being A Girl is aimed at teaching girls about their gender role. It is a set of lessons in story format accompanied by Scripture with charming pen and ink illustrations. My six, 10 and 12-year-old girls enjoyed the stories. This inexpensive book would make a great baby shower or birthday gift. The Narrow Way includes topics such as Faith, Virtue, Temperance, Patience, Brotherly Kindness and more. The lessons are short and very easy to teach. All you need to go along with The Narrow Way are a Bible (Pearables uses the King James version) and a dictionary. An optional resource book would be a Strong's Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible. The Narrow Way includes definitions from Strong's, but looking up the words on your own helps to make the meaning stick. At the end of each unit is a Kingdom Story that illustrates the lessons. If you only have a few minutes for character training, this would be a great book for you. It is VERY easy to teach and the lessons are short. Each lesson in a unit builds on previous lessons, so it is like Saxon for character training. Because each lesson is Biblically based, this is a wonderful Bible study too. My favorite unit is Brotherly Kindness.

More on Pearables from 11-year-old Lukey Suarez
My name is Lukey and I am 11-years-old. I read a wise book called Pearables: Character Building Kingdom Stories Volume I. This book is building up my character. It teaches you to obey the laws of God. In this book, the king's laws are God's laws. Stealing and lying are of great concern to God. Those are God's commandments. When I read this book, I feel close to God. He also cares about love and kindness, like the kings in this book does. This book tells about problems and how you solve them. People show mercy like the kings and God do. Mercy happens when you have a punishment coming, but you end up not getting your punishment and you get another chance. When I do wrong, my dad shows me mercy. Sometimes he ends up not punishing me and just talking with me. This book helped me to understand mercy.
A king tries to help his people just like God helps us. He makes sure people are obeying the laws and loving one another - not stealing or doing things they should not. There were many good stories in this book. One was about a lady who was very beautiful and called "the beauty" by many people. As she grew, her face grew older and she did not look beautiful anymore. She had a daughter who was not that beautiful on the outside, but was on the inside. She was kind, tried helping people and gave a helping hand. The whole village, and her own children at her death, referred to her as "the most beautiful woman in the world." This taught me that it does not matter what I look like on the outside, but on the inside!
Pearables provides very good advice to one who needs it.
